1 January 2023 has been and gone, and somehow the month has escaped us.

You may have started the year thinking about all the things that you plan to do to yourself this year, but have you thought of your small business?

Now is the time to set your small business up for success, and risk management so that you can approach the year right.

With one month gone, suddenly you are also looming closer to the end of the financial year on 30 June 2023.

So, what can you do?

  1. Check your obligations as an employer:
    a) Are your policies up to date?
    b) Are your employment contracts up to date
    c) Are you complying with all your legal requirements.Note to you – new changes are in effect.
  1. How are your terms and conditions looking. Do they need a refresh?
  1. Are you planning a new venture, a new partnership, or a new service – get the documents in order before that launches to mitigate your risk.
  1. Review your business plan;
  1. Liaise with your legal and accounting advisers.
  1. Check your Lease. When does it end? Is there an option period approaching? Are you expanding and looking at a larger premises?
  1. Do you have any rolling contracts and expenses that need to be reviewed, renegotiated, or questioned?
